Covered in class are teaching techniques that require approval and techniques that are never allowed by a paid professional. The student will not only learn about the rights of people with developmental disabilities but how to assist someone in expressing those rights. The class will also give the student tips on how to positively support someone when teaching a new skill. The student will learn about what a behavior plan is and why they are used. Ultimately, the learner will leave Article 9 class understanding that Article 9 in practice is about assisting another person in not only maintaining dignity but finding more of it.

Chris Garcia gave exceptional instruction today with regard to the Article 9 training. I learned a good bunch of information and was able to pass the test! I did miss a couple of answers and would like to know which questions I missed to learn the correct answer. I would like to have had an opportunity to see my mistakes and learn from them. Otherwise, great Saturday morning training!
