Covered in class are teaching techniques that require approval and techniques that are never allowed by a paid professional. The student will not only learn about the rights of people with developmental disabilities but how to assist someone in expressing those rights. The class will also give the student tips on how to positively support someone when teaching a new skill. The student will learn about what a behavior plan is and why they are used. Ultimately, the learner will leave Article 9 class understanding that Article 9 in practice is about assisting another person in not only maintaining dignity but finding more of it.

Chris Garcia smoothly navigated between giving course information, sharing applicable stories/examples, showing videos, and responding to questions. He did this in such a great manner that I "forgot" it was an online course! Props for his attention recalling students' names from over an hour prior that gave great insights. great information, and Chris was a really great instructor (you can tell he is very passionate about this job and spreading awareness and this information). However, the fact that this course was almost 4 hours seems unnecessary. There was a lot of time used for general fluff or information that was not pertinent to what is required for the course. If it is going to be mandatory live (no self study option), then it needs to be as efficient as possible for people to avoid inconvenience.
