Covered in class are teaching techniques that require approval and techniques that are never allowed by a paid professional. The student will not only learn about the rights of people with developmental disabilities but how to assist someone in expressing those rights. The class will also give the student tips on how to positively support someone when teaching a new skill. The student will learn about what a behavior plan is and why they are used. Ultimately, the learner will leave Article 9 class understanding that Article 9 in practice is about assisting another person in not only maintaining dignity but finding more of it.

I worked last night so I was still super tired when I took this class at 8am. The instructor was engaging and super informative in her presentation of the class. I love the fact that she showed videos that were relevant to the class and it tied up to the overall impact of what the class was for. I will definitely take this class again if this instructor was teaching it.

The Article 9 course was informative and helped me better understand the rights of individuals with developmental disabilities, positive behavior support, and the different techniques that are allowed, require approval, or are prohibited. The examples made the information easier to understand and apply to real-life situations.

Chris is an amazing presenter! I absolutely love and appreciate his passion. He not only cares that the students walk away with correct, well-informed information, it is obvious that he believes in the care and dignified treatment of those with disabilities. As a special needs mom and director of a program helping people with disabilities that mindset is a blessing and an encouragement. This was a most valuable and excellently taught class. Although the information in this class can seem a bit boring and tedious, Heidi does a great job keeping the class engaged, with plenty of examples and explanations. Highly recommend taking class from her.
