Covered in class are teaching techniques that require approval and techniques that are never allowed by a paid professional. The student will not only learn about the rights of people with developmental disabilities but how to assist someone in expressing those rights. The class will also give the student tips on how to positively support someone when teaching a new skill. The student will learn about what a behavior plan is and why they are used. Ultimately, the learner will leave Article 9 class understanding that Article 9 in practice is about assisting another person in not only maintaining dignity but finding more of it.

The Article 9 class was very informative and engaging, especially for a Zoom-based course. The instructor did an excellent job keeping the class interactive by sharing relevant stories and practical, need-to-know information that helped make the material easy to understand. Her teaching style kept me engaged throughout the session, and I felt confident in my understanding of the material when it came time to take the quiz. Overall, it was a great learning experience, and I would highly recommend this instructor.

The teacher was thorough and detailed while remaining personable and relatable and shared appropriate examples. It was easy to follow along and use the packet for a text of the course content. I actually did not notice the amount of time had passed when we finished. It was engaging and definitely educational and needed for roles with DDD.
