Covered in class are teaching techniques that require approval and techniques that are never allowed by a paid professional. The student will not only learn about the rights of people with developmental disabilities but how to assist someone in expressing those rights. The class will also give the student tips on how to positively support someone when teaching a new skill. The student will learn about what a behavior plan is and why they are used. Ultimately, the learner will leave Article 9 class understanding that Article 9 in practice is about assisting another person in not only maintaining dignity but finding more of it.

Chris presented the information thoroughly, although it was a lot of information in a relatively short period of time. As an old-timer, it was a little challenging to digest all the salient points and have the recall to immediately take the test and pass. I did get a 75% score, so I'm glad some of the training was retained. I have emailed Heidi to see if I can improve my score.

Chris mentioned that there was 20 other things I could be doing on a Saturday than this training, he was wrong. Not only was it easy to follow and attend to I was still able to complete what I needed for myself and pass the exam!
